Should I accept a smoker for a boyfriend? So many times I wanted to give up convincing W to stop smoking and just let him be but I simply cannot. We ended up quarreling and fighting a lot over the same issue over and over but is it worth it? Is it really time I stop trying?
Wanting to make more friends is such a bullshit excuse for smoking. Being a social smoker is the same. You either smoke or your don't. Simple. Influencing your friends to smoke, well hello fucker, you're a bad friend and you should feel bad.
I'm so sick and tired of him telling me that he's gonna stop for real this time, and then a week or a month later, guess who's picking up a cigarette? In W's case, a nice full pack to bring into the army. Classic case of the the boy who cried wolf.
It's so difficult to make him see where I'm coming from. My intentions are all good, some selfish, but good, nonetheless. But how do you change someone? Another individual with his own set of thinking, his own point of view. How do you make him stop if he don't want to?
My dad used to smoke. He suffered from throat cancer during his later years and died from that. Everybody is different, I know. But do I want to take the risk? No, I do not. I've seen how gambling, smoking and drinking have affected a family. I came from one such.
I do not know exactly the qualities I want in a boyfriend, a husband, but I know what I do not want. I do not want an excessive gambler, an alcoholic, or a smoker to become the father of my children.
